Verona Peñalba is a Nicaraguan-born painter and multimedia artist living on the North Fork of Long Island. For more than twenty years she has painted the inner world — water, movement, intuition, the quiet things that live beneath the surface. Painting is her home; from there the work moves outward into collage, large paper masks that come alive at celebrations and events, and MACH, a line of clothing made from rescued materials. Every piece begins in the same place: listening for what wants to be made.
