Verona Peñalba is a Nicaraguan-born painter, creative guide, and co-founder of VEME Studios in Greenport, NY.

With more than two decades of artistic practice, her work centers on abstraction as a language for the unseen — emotion, intuition, and the quiet movement of the inner self. Water, gesture, and layering are recurring motifs, reflecting the fluidity of identity and the way memory and experience settle beneath the surface.

Alongside her studio practice, Verona has developed a community-focused art space that welcomes children, adults, and families into the creative process. Through workshops, seasonal programs, and immersive sessions, she encourages play, curiosity, and self-expression as vital parts of a healthy, grounded life.

Her evolving work in therapeutic and expressive support extends this mission on a more intimate scale. Verona offers one-on-one sessions rooted in presence, listening, and creative exploration — holding space for individuals seeking clarity, emotional release, or a reconnection to their own creative wisdom.

Whether painting, teaching, or guiding others inward, Verona’s work sits at the intersection of art, embodiment, and soul.

She splits her time between her home studio and VEME, continuing to build a practice where creativity becomes not just a product, but a pathway — to healing, community, and meaningful expression.
