I already had this Idea from the last time I visited Greenport, to make a mini collection of 50's Iconic actresses portraits as I am inlove with a local Vintage store called 'The Times' they have a small gallery space and a garden in the back where they normally have artists showing. But I will be so short time in Greenport, that is not enough to organize something nice that more people can enjoy so the owner from the Store Elizabeth and I will have to do something next summer when I will stay full 3 months.
But as I am here and have to do something, I decided to take the Greenport mermaid (theres a Mermaid in one of the Greenport Village Logos!!!) as inspiration. I had a walk on the town shops and found soooo many mermaids is like being in Mermaid land! so exciting!!!
The Idea is to make closeup portraits of mermaids, inspired in the colors of the summer in Greenport, Green, Light blue, Yellow, Pink and gold of course, and give each mermaid a strong 'persona', there will be no tails in the painting so sea and underwater flowers will be the accessories this mermaids will be using.
I'm so Excited to start and start sharing with you what comes out!!!!

Desde la última vez que visité Greenport, pensé que quería hacer una mini colección de retratos de actrices iconicas de los anos 50's, ya que quede enamorada de una tienda "Vintage" llamada 'The Times' la tienda tiene un pequeño espacio en la parte trasera tipo galería donde muestra piezas de diferentes artistas y un jardín divino para compartir arte. Pero voy a ser tan corto tiempo en Greenport, que no sera suficiente para organizar lo que teníamos en mente con la dueña Elizabeth. Tendremos que dejarlo para el próximo verano que planeo estar 3 meses aquí.
Pero como estoy aquí y tengo que hacer algo, me decidí a tomar la sirena Greenport (El logo del pueblo tiene una sirena!!!) como fuente de inspiración. Pasee por las tiendas y encontré muchas sirenas! Es como estar en el mundo de las sirenas!
La idea es hacer retratos en primer plano de las sirenas, inspirados en los colores del verano en Greenport; verde, azul claro, amarillo, rosa y dorado, por supuesto, y dar a cada sirena un fuerte 'persona', no voy a pintar las colas de cada sirena, pero si tendrán accesorios marítimos que indicaran su origen bajo el agua.
Estoy tan emocionada de empezar y empezar a compartir con ustedes como progreso!!!!
